BUILDING Science 2
Auditorium : A Case Study on Acoustic Design
A case study was conducted on local auditorium to study the acoustical qualities of the selected auditorium. After getting permission from the local authority, we had a site visit to the National Theater Kuala Lumpur to observe and study the acoustical qualities of the place.
A report was produced to cover the following aspects :
1. Historical background
2. Architectural drawings
3. Sound propagation study
4. Sound Absorption
5. Sound Source and Noise
6. Sound Readings
7. Reverberation Time and etc.
LIGHTING INTEGRATION PROJECT
Project 2 is an integration project with Architectural Design Studio V design that aims to develop our understanding of daylighting and artificial lighting design. PSALI design strategies was implemented in the lighting design solution.
Two significant spaces of our design were chosen for the implementation of daylighting and artificial lighting strategies. Design solutions and proposals were produced in the form of A1 board and A4 report, supported by diagrams, drawings and related visual graphics.

REFLECTION
Throughout the projects and modules, I was able to understand the key terminologies of building acoustic and lighting qualities. I learnt to produce designs that incorporate both acoustical and lighting qualities to create a sustainable architectural design. Apart from that, I was able to analyze acoustic and lighting qualities both qualitative and quantitatively through calculation and observation method such as reverberation calculation and lumen method calculation.
